For many taste buds, however, nothing’s quite reached the same levels as the original 2002 treat. Now spelled “Spidey Berry,” this version had normal colored crusts and a white icing top instead of the blue with grey webs. That saw the release of a new type of Spidey-Berry Pop-Tart, though things were different from the Tobey Maguire days. Things would get a bit more nostalgic with the release of Spider-Man: Far from Home.
Branded cereal was another form of edible advertising that Andrew Garfield’s movie received. The Amazing Spider-Man would also have its unique Pop-Tart flavor in “Yum-azing Vanilla,” with the tarts having a vanilla filling, red top frosting, and blue spiders. And the hardest to find was the vile Green Goblin can, with the verdant villain dotting only one of the cans in the series. Nowadays, Insomniac is most well-known for Marvels Spider-Man and Marvels.
Though there weren’t any special flavors, they featured images of Spidey from the movie. Insomniac created one Microsoft exclusive, Sunset Overdrive, for Xbox One and PC. Beyond Pop-Tarts, several other food and drink items took the opportunity to promote 2002’s Spider-Man.
